Toytown Seaford began in 2009, at the start of the recession, following the demise of Woolworths, when gaps were starting to appear in the High Street. With four young children, I was very aware of the need for good quality toys, and didn’t like the idea of my family growing up in a ghost town.
So, off I went to the annual Toy Fair, 9 week old baby and husband in tow, and within a few weeks Toytown was opened to a huge crowd of very excited youngsters (and a fair few oldsters).
I wanted to recreate the feel of the Toytown of my home town, Leamington Spa, where I could be found every Saturday begging for a job. Sadly, I was never old enough, and the shop closed in 1995 owing to the changing shape of the town. In its heyday, Gordon Dobson’s Toytown was the largest Independent Toyshop in the country, and the first to advertise on TV. Many of the brands that were stocked there can now be found in Toytown Seaford, such as Playmobil, Schleich, Airfix, Tiny Tears and others. The rocking horse in our logo is our nod of respect to the original Toytown.
We stock all the big brands including Lego, Hasbro, Playmobil, Sylvanian Families and many more. But our speciality is finding the quirky and unusual ranges that do not appear in national stores and supermarkets, and our range, combined with the passion and knowledge of my Elves, mean we can find a gift suitable for children, and adults, of any age.
Come and see us - we’re open every day except Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, when the Elves get a well deserved rest.
